Follow these three tips to ensure that you’re optimising your online store to its full potential.
Add your website to Google Search Console
If you don’t already have a Google Search Console account, it’s time to get one! With this tool, you can view the keywords that people are searching for in relation to your products and services, allowing you to adjust content accordingly.
Google Search Console is a free tool that provides you with information about how Google crawls, indexes and serves your website. It also offers insights into how users interact with your website through search results.
You can use the Search Analytics report to understand more about your organic traffic from Google Search:
The number of impressions (visits) in organic search during the specified date range
The number of clicks on organic listings for a particular URL or keyword phrase over the same time period
Optimise your store’s speed
You might not be aware of it but faster websites rank higher on search engines like Google. So make sure that every page of your site loads quickly by using tools such as Pingdom or GTMetrix and following their recommendations for speeding up loading times. It will have an immediate impact on how many clicks per day (and dollars) come into your business from organic search results.
Add a caching plugin
Caching plugins are the best way to speed up your store’s load time, and they’re easy to implement. The most popular one is Cloudflare, but there are others that you can use as well (like W3 Total Cache or WP Rocket).
Make sure your site is mobile friendly
Over half of all daily internet usage now takes place on mobile devices so if yours isn’t optimised yet then there’s no better time than now!
If your site isn’t mobile friendly, people will not be able to view it on their phones or tablets and that’s bad for business! If you want more traffic from mobile devices then you need a responsive theme (or theme with built-in responsiveness) installed on Shopify so that your website looks great no matter what device someone uses to view it on!
Mobile devices are used more than desktop computers and have better bandwidth, allowing for faster load times for websites and apps on them. They also have more screen space, memory and processing power.
Don’t underestimate the importance of making these changes as you will see a vast improvement in your website’s performance.
